HI,

I'm looking for some advice on my mountain bike saddle height. On my road bikes my saddle is set at 74.2cm centre to top. I was wondering if anyone could tell me how to work out my saddle height for my mountain bike. Should it be lower for the terrain or should it be set to the same height as my road bikes.

Thanks for your help

same height if your going for it

you can lower it for better control on the downhill or when peddelling efficiency is unimportant

Set the seat so that your leg is straight with your heel on the pedal (this should leave a very slight bend in the knee when pedalling normally - roughly the position for maximum pedalling efficiency). Be prepared to adjust a few mm in use to get the optimum. Mark the seat tube so you can quickly return it to that position, and lower the seat for tricky bits or descents.
