£695 with a Ribble sticker on it.
Does Bern post on here ? Why the extra £205 for Condor stickers over Ribble stickers ? Or is it not that simple ?
I wouldn't be surprised if it were that simple!!!!
It looks like it IS that simple
and actually - it is £325 more as the ribble frame is just £575
Ribble is £575 frame only
Condor is £899 frame+forks+headset
Oh i see - so it is.
the deda forks are £120 and a hidden headset, well - the cane creek one is £16 - so the like for like price is £711 vs. £8990 -
of the two foci you've posted, to my mind the better value one is the cayo. the frame and fork appear to be the same (you should check) so it comes down to what your £400 extra buys you.
FSA chainsets are not very reliable compared to shimano from what I've seen. The shimano will probably also be stiffer. In any case, for £150 you could upgrade this componoent to dura ace.
The Easton wheels are better, but IMO, better still would be to ebay the aksiums and buy some better lieghtweight wheels for the cayo.
So, cayo with DA chainset and nice wheels (maybe eurus or similar) would be my choice of those two.
the only thing i don't like on the focus is the alloy steerer ... uneccesary weight penalty there. but for not that much you could lose that too and get the bike down to the low 7kgs.0 -

Is it possible to buy the frame as pictured? I've been trying to buy a blank carbon frame for ages!0 -
Bar a few 'transfers' the Ribble frame looks just like this (hence the discussion). I'm sure they'd sell one to you without transfers. Worth asking.'Happiness serves hardly any other purpose than to make unhappiness possible' Marcel Proust.0
-
I never thought to ask, all the carbon bikes I see have the sticker / transfers under the laquer. I'll give them an email :-)0
-
The stickers are under the laquer :-(
Back to the drawing board ...0 -
You could be right. I was in the ribble shop last week (I don't own one) and it did look like a transfer to me but I wasn't looking that carefully. Could well be under the laquer though. Certainly worth contacting them.'Happiness serves hardly any other purpose than to make unhappiness possible' Marcel Proust.0
-
could you contact the manufacturer? they might do a group buy?0
-
Have you tried Pedal Force? I think their frames can be destickered.0

Fair play if Ribble are good with the fitting etc in the shop - I'd definitely spend a day travelling up to their for that kind of saving!0

I like the original Dedacciai stickers - available here with Dura Ace for £1600!
http://tinyurl.com/2sw26x
Or the Kompressor version - raw sex surely :P
£531 for frame-and-forks http://tinyurl.com/2vlvvz Also in white or silver
Or what I think might be the same frame with less paint - £1311 with Ultegra http://tinyurl.com/35deu5
So you can be a complete arse by getting a test ride at Condor then buying something much cheaper with a better spec in a box from Luxembourg...

The Kompressor version is seriously cheap... hmm .. no.. must.. resist!0
-
Check out the white version with the red lightning bits. The cheapest bike porn ever! Everyone will think you've spent 4k, especially if you get the deep section Easton rims.
Or you could go just a bit further and go one model up the Dedacciai range with the uberbling Nero Scuro HCR in Rabobank colours for £934...
Go on..do it...happiness is just a credit card transaction away
Or unpainted with Dedacciai stickers for a mere £867 http://tinyurl.com/2orr2k Half price, allegedly.

 Is it just me or does anyone else think those Kompressor bikes are hideous?!0
-
I don't like them much either !!! I guess if you're out for performance for £ then it might well be a good buy. I would rather spend more and get a bike I loved looking at even if it did hurt a bit financially.0
-
Come on, anything's better looking than those Ribble stickers - with apologies to those who own Ribbles and love 'em

Italian tubing but where are all these bikes made? Italy, China??'Happiness serves hardly any other purpose than to make unhappiness possible' Marcel Proust.0
-
Dedaccai makes the tubes in house and sells complete frames. http://www.dedacciai.com/home_eng.html Seems unlikely they would send the tubes to China just for them to be glued together?

Check out this thread for some ribble and possibly other bikes that might be of interest.
I'm just waiting for mine to be delivered, but I'm on holiday next week and will have to wait til week after to have a play with it.0 -

There are a couple of Scuro models on ebay without decals. 2 by the same seller. Here's one of them:

The Scuro model looks quite good here as a built up bike:
"Seve Ballesteros, the Spanish bull. A friend of mine said recently; 'What do you get if you cross a ballerina and a b(a)stard?' His answer, Ballesteros."0 -
Or how about this?
Maybe these would be more acceptable to the bike snobs rather than the same frame with the Ribble decals on it instead?"Seve Ballesteros, the Spanish bull. A friend of mine said recently; 'What do you get if you cross a ballerina and a b(a)stard?' His answer, Ballesteros."0 -
I can't speak for anyone else but ...
For me it's not a case of snobbery. I just want a "nude" frame, I have no preference over Condor or Ribble. I dislike both ;-)0 -
I'm not sure anyone has adequately answered the question.
Is it that much cheaper to go Ribble than to buy Condor?0 -

"Quite good"??? Surely you meant to say 'more gorgeous than Darcey Bussell crossed with Concorde'? I would swap a testicle for it. :P

Nothing in particular ...
I just want a quality carbon frame without advertising.
I'm not trying to hide what I'm riding it is something I have always done, only it is a harder than when I only rode aluminium bikes :-(0 -
I'm with you there Andy, hate anything with logos plastered all over - clothes, bikes, bags, you name it.0

yes, yes it is
on a like-for-like quote, the stats are - £711 from ribble Vs. £899 from condor.0
