hello. me and my brother are going to wales for a few days next week before he has 2 go to afganistan and are wondering where are the best places to ride? we ride abit of everything eg. hardcore xc to downhill. any ideas people ?

    there is a good mountain bike route at llandegela,check the spelling,its a privatley owned mountain bike track with an award winning cafe,bike shop.course is a mix of fast flowing single track to some big jumps if you want to.being manmade course isnt affected by weather :P

    Cwmcarn has a short XC loop and a DH course. Well worth a look.

    Afan is not too far away from there, either. The climbs are easy enough on FR bikes and the descents are scorchers.

    What he said ^ - Afan and Cwm Carn recommended if your are near the South.

    if your in north wales i would recommend coed-y-brenin (the beast is a good run and a good distance at 38km), penamancho (they were in the process of adding another loop last time i was there, don't know if its finished yet) and llandegla (ideal if you don't have that long to spare. iirc its about 13miles round the black/red run).
