Bike storage

Getting pressure put on by the wife to tidy up the utility room, specifically the corner that is home to my 3 bikes. Now the big/heavy beach cruiser will have to stay on the floor, but it is feasible that the MTB and the roady could go higher.

The roadys a basic Decathlon job, but the MTB is a 2006 GT Avalanche, with front suspension

“RST Omega T6, hydraulic fork, magnesium lowers, preload adjust, 80-120 mm of travel with lock out and travel adjust.” (to be exact)

There seems to be plenty of choice out there, but I’m currently considering 2 styles, demonstarted by the links below

I’m not necessarily talking about these products, just the way they work. Any pros or cons with each? My main concern probably relates to the effect on the MTB forks. Any likely negative effects from either method of storage?

I could probably go with something like the second link but with the bikes effectively stood on a shelf also?

    Hi Gambatte,
I use some large plastic coated hooks from the local DIY shop, so I can hold up the bike by it's frame so no undue pressure on the wheels, also allow you to store the bike without wheels

just hang them up by the wheels and be done with it.

    Thanks guys, all sorted.

Popped into Decathlon and ended up getting both types. £13 in total.

Roadies going on a wheel hook, the mtb is on the toptube bars.

As I wanted the bike horizontal and as high as possible on the wall, it was fun setting the bracket angle right, due to it having a sloping top tube.

When my dad threw a hissy fit about the bikes (mine and my daughters) being in our utility room my mum bought one of those garden stores, so i just pop the front wheel off my MTB and hang it on the shelf supports.
My old Dawes is hung from the rafters in the garage (over my mums MGB) by it's wheels using some huge coated hooks from the local home improvement store.
