thanks0 -
Its a good frame, fork is ok and is still warrantied. Try one if you can, great frame and parts on this bike.0
-
are there any other 600£ bikes that you could recomend0
-
Gt Avalanche 1.0 or expert
Giant XTC 3.5
Commencal Combi Disc0 -
ok thanks again.....
would the trek frame be good for upgrading0 -
As above, its very good, so yes, one of the best frames in this price bracket.0
-
would it be worth getting the trek 6000 for the forks or are they in a different price range0
-
I cant really answer that, as you have to look at the bike as a package. I think you are getting too hung up on spec and need to go and test them, or at least see them in the flesh! All the bikes mentioned are good value, you are getting more bike than you are paying IMO. The Dart 2.5 is a good budget performer.0
-
sorry man. I have seen both of them in the flesh today infact. Its just I really want to make the right desition. Thanks a lot man.
You have been a great help
you seem to spend so much time on bikeradar. (do you have a job)0 -
I'm off work with a long standing illness, which is getting better as I undergo therapy and treatment. Been back on the bike a bit lately, and used to be a bike mechanic. So this forum keeps me sane and keeps me in the sport I love!0
-
sorry to hear about your illness. this website is a god send for lovers of biking0
-
i was wondering how do you tell if forks are any good?0
-
As a minimum should have adjustable rebound damping. Try them out, play with the settings. Are they smooth? Can you adjust feel to the way you like? Do they behave like a pogo stick? At this price anything by RockShox is good.0
-
ok thanks....
what does slr stand for i have seen in a quite a few bikes0 -
Its just a name to distunguish from other frames. Super Light Racing I think. Its the name of the tubes, they are double butted and light. The SL is not quite as light, and the ZR9000 uses a diffferent alloy which is stronger.0
-
whats double butted0

-
thanks sooooooooo much
if there was a prize on bikeradar for most helpfull i think loads of people would agree that YOU should get it :!:0 -
If you are after a Trek, take a look at Pauls Cycles www.paulscycles.co.uk - they have a 6500 (2006 model) with Hayes hyd brakes for £ 550 in two sizes.
MarvWhat tree ? ...........
Trek 8000 ZR XC hardtail.0 -

2007

?? any good or not ??0 -
Good frames, poor components.0
-
1) He lives in Switzerland, neither of the sites in the links deliver to Switzerland.
2) The forks on the '06 Blast are pathetic, the ones on the '07 are not much better.
3) The '06 Blast in your link is only available in 14" or 22", so unless you are a dwarf, or the Jolly Green Giant, utterly useless.
4) The spec levels on the '07 Blast are poor to say the least. I'd expect Deore shifters & rear mech & Hydraulic brakes for over £500.0 -
i didnt specifically mean from those sites i was just using them as an example geez
:roll:0 -
thanks guys....
it seems to me that all of kona's entry bikes are either complete crap or just their frames are good0
