I work in West Drayton and use the top half (nos 1-6) of this route to get to work and back. No DH, obviously, but an OK loop if you want to get some fresh air, loosen up and avoid cars without having to drive there.

Black Park Country Park (between 5 and 6 on the map) is pretty large and you can rack up some miles easily just on the proper Bridleway routes. There's a million little singletrack routes that I have not had a proper chance to explore yet that could give you a good evening or afternoon's ride if you don't mind being pretty flat.

Langley Park (opposite side of the road) has more of a slope down to the house and you can get wheeling through the trails though the gardens pretty quickly. Just be careful on the blind sections at the weekends as there are quite a few walkers about but evenings are usually pretty clear.

You could also try these guys if you want a bit more info? They organised the 100km Bucks Off-road ride in May (June?) based around Denham Country Park so should be able to help.

If you don't mind driving for 20-30 minutes up the M40, you can head out to the Chilterns, some good riding to be had around Watlington/Stokenchurch/Chinnor/Princes Risborough.
If the old threads are still stored here, search for these places and you'll get a list of the forum locals who ride it regularly (guilliano, BigAl, davydesign and others) who I'm sure will be willing to help or even ride with you.

I'm new myself in these parts but give me a shout if you want some company on the local routes!
