Etape du Tour logistics/advice for cycling widow

Apologies in advance if I break any guidelines but this is my first post. My partner is riding the Etape this year and I'm supposed to be his support team. However the logistics of getting to/from the event are somewhat problematic so I'm appealing for help and suggestions. We were going to be joined in France by a friend who was going to drive us around, but he may now be starting a new job at this time and will not be able to get away if this is the case. We're flying out on Thursday 12th and will return the following week, probably on 18th.
Our logistical problems are:
1. Getting to the start of the race. We're at Mirepoix, about 22 miles from the start at Foix - this was the nearest we could book (and my partner booked the day the route was announced). He may get round this one by either riding to the start, or camping overnight if he can book a space at this late stage. However, if someone with space for a bike will be travelling to Foix from the Mirepoix direction and can get him there for the start, that would be great.
2. Getting my partner back from the finish (with his bike). He has an option on coming back to our hotel the day after the race but it's not ideal. Again, if anyone is returning to Foix/Mirepoix straight after the race, he'd appreciate a lift.
3. My plan was always to head up onto one of the mountains on the route to act as cheerleader. Are there any cycling widow/ers out there who I can hook up with to cheer on our teams? Obviously it would be great if they have a car, but we could also split taxi costs.
Please let me know if you can help! Local bus routes/trains etc are proving difficult to track down online, so advice from anyone who knows the area would be very much appreciated.
Thanks
Bryony
