So the show is over, frames are arriving or in production, the new Campag is here(not Record and some cranks yet, but soon). Just off for a 2 week relax[8D], then back to start work on 2008, Condor's 60th year, mmmmmm... something special?

Bern, I have an early 90's Condor Italia (531c)in a 23" size and would like to get a Fratello frame to build up as a winter bike. However I cant find any frame size info on the web site. I like a high bar height but want to avoid the stack of spacers 'Thorn' look! Do you have any frame dims - head and top tube lengths, in particular?

I am just working on a new chart for the sales guys in the shop to use. We went from horizontal(which is probably what you have) to semi-compact 3-4 years ago. a mid-sized frame(I am guessing you are between 5' 10" and 6') would now have a 3cm higher front end. For 07 we are raising the front height again by approx 2cm as a lot of customers want 5 or 6 spacers which is a bit much really if you wnat the bike to look good as well. Hopefully this will solve it for you. The guys can always sit you on the jig to see how you feel or bring your bike in and they can have a look at your set-up.

Great idea Bern your thread idea. Condor are very popular and rightly so, and something like this only heightens that. Useful stuff.

  • Hi Bern

Any idea when the Condor website/catalogue will be updated to include the new bikes unveiled last week?

Oh, and enjoy your break - sounds like you've earned it.

    Thanks Alan,

we are having a meeting about it right now. We may do a simple catalogue for 07 as we want to work on 08 and make it available at the show. The big problem with catalogues is getting hold of all of the new products early enough before the show to take pics. We only received most of the frames at the show 3 days before. Hopefully it will not be long and should have an answer soon.

For the website, we have agreed a deal with someone to make a new one for us and it should be up and running sometime in Nov/Dec.

  • Hi Bern,

Do you guys have any Giordana Bibtights in stock at the moment? Also, I'm confused over sizing. I wear size L in their Tenax Bibshorts, but a sizing chat I've just seen on the Ribble website seems to indicate that I'd be an XL in the Bibtights! [:0]

    I'm only a 32 inch and a not so giant 5ft 9.

    XL just doesn't sound right!

The only place success comes before work, is in the dictionary

    Vive les All Blacks!!! [:D]

We do stock some Giordana, but not the bibtights. I would normally assume that you would need the same size as your shorts as this is the case with most brands. If you speak to Karl in the shop he should be able to get some in for you to try.

Otherwise we should have loads of other lovely brands in stock.

Bern, Thanks for the info. on the Agio/Fratello.
Are the geometries going to differ between them this year then?
Is there anywhere I can get weight (and tech) info. on the Shimano groupsets in similar detail to Campag?
Will the weight on the Frat. be the same 06 -> 07?
  • hello bern
i have a 2004(i think) italia which i bought second hand, its fantastic but the paint is looking a bit tatty. do you do resprays at condor and if so how much does it cost?

    Hi Tomson,

We certainly can get it resprayed for you. I beleive the cost is in the region of œ100. The best person to talk to regarding resprays at the shop would be Greg. He should be able to give you full details of prices as there are lots of finishes available plus decals, etc. He can be contacted by phone on 020 7269 6820 or greg@condorcycles.com

just got back from holiday, very jetlaged

Today's info from Italy states that they should be built by the end of this week, going into the paint shop on Monday. As there are quite a lot in production this could take anything up to 2-3 weeks to get them painted and over to us.

  • I am eagerly awaiting the fratello which I have ordered. I resurrected my 8 year old ridgeback liberte this weekend, new bottom bracket - it was a pig to remove the old one. I rode to work today (12 miles each way) and had severe back ache at the bottom of my back by the end - I think the frame is too small. Just a reminder to Rowan - please can I have red handlebar tape instead of black ?

Saw a Condor in Bristol yesterday, nasty 70s utility bike, turns out it was a Swiss Condor. No relation I assume.

I am after a new smallish, cross bike. I checked your site and liked the Italia Cross.

As it has to be an all rounder, does it have mudguard eyes etc?

Incidentally, I still have not had the courtesy of a reply to my e-mail concerning the last bike I bought, in April. How many months should I wait?

Richard Brown - red tape noted. I just spotted you have requested 11-25 cassette size. This is a new size Campagnolo have introduced and unfortunately will not be available till at least the New Year. Can we fit a 12-25 instead?

Mickle - The Siss 'Army' bikes are certainly no relation. I have seen them and they are truely aweful. There is someone mail ordering them for a price that is way over the top.

Dave5n - The Italia Cross comes with fittings for rack and guards. I can't understand why you have not had a reply to your email - remind me which address you sent it to and I will find out what has happened.

The website mentions an Audax version of the Moda. Can you confirm that it would have mudguard eyes, rack bosses and clearances for 25mm tyres (or even 28mm) plus mudguards?

If I had a baby elephant signature, I\'d use that.
  • Bern - 12-25 is fine I am sure it will go quite fast enough for me.

Which is what i saw at the show. It's called the Frodo and i believe you can fit up to 28mm tyres, but i'm sure Bern will confirm this. It's gorgeous btw! And i want one!

Greenbank/Giant man - The Auxax version of the Moda is now called 'Fondo', it will take rack, guards and 28mm tyres. I have just approved the drawing for the forks which are in production now and should arrive with us at the same time as the Fratello frames as they will use them also.

Should it be called 'Frodo'(Lord of the Chainrings)?

RichardBrown - Thanks - all amended. I am chasing all the time for them as we now have loads of pre-orders.

I want to order a Fratello but I am from 'up North' so have a logistics problem getting in to the store for a fitting etc. How best do you think we can work this or do you anticipate any issues ?
I have actually dropped an email to info@condorcycles asking for a few more dimensions on frame size so it would be good if you could get someone to respond to that.
