Amazed by SRAM Etap

Postby diamonddog » Mon Sep 16, 2019 17:18 pm

I recently had SRAM Red Etap 11 speed fitted using the existing Force crankset and was impressed with the changing.

I am now amazed how durable it is after my man cave was flooded to a depth of 1.5mt/5ft in the recent Spanish flooding which left all my bikes submerged and caked in mud. The bike dried out and I tried the changing which worked caked in mud and the charger worked when I took the batteries off and charged them.

When we eventually get some mains water (5 days without so far) it well get swilled down and the frame checked, the wheel hubs are full of water and mud so may need new wheels.
For those contemplating Etap I say go for it.

Photos, first one is pre flood.

Gosh, that doesn't look good. Really sorry you've experienced that. I had seen the reports on the news and those images are awful. Really hope things improve and there is no lasting damage to your property.

On a brighter note, like you say, at least the etap is still working!

I say go for Di2 as you tend not to get flooded.
We're all buffoons; some slightly less than others.

Cheers.
We were lucky a small house on the end of the road was washed away and ended up on an embankment.

Good luck with the clean up, have been watching a lot of reports on Spanish TV.

Finally have water after 6 days, shower sounds really good.

Just started on clean up, it will take months and waiting for insurance to contact us might take longer

Cheers peoples.

That's terrible but, plus side, you actually started a thread saying the bike was ok rather than forcing us to ask!
