Re: Wheel upgrade

~£400 at my LBS would get some H Plus Son Archetypes on DT240 hubs built up with Sapim spokes, nice looking and riding wheelset. It's hard to beat factory built wheelsets at this price point for weight but the I'd go with the handbuilts for longevity and future maintenance. There is a wealth of rim ...

Re: Allez or F95?

This is worth a look at the £600ish price band: http://d2plslj6xljffa.cloudfront.net/imgs/products/px/400_constH/CBHOTRTIA_P1.jpg http://www.planetx.co.uk/i/q/CBHOTRTIA/holdsworth-trentino-shimano-tiagra-carbon-road-bike Although I see that you can pick up a 2013 F95 for £449 on Wiggle at the moment.

Re: Vuelta Stage 18 *Spoiler*

Is Horner's bike too big? His bars look huge and it might explain why he can't ride in the saddle! I agree, his handlebars do look too wide for him. On descents he must ride in what the French call ‘English-style’, otherwise he’d be like a kite and accordingly pick up the wind. I’d still like to kn...

Re: Heat moldable shoes

My mate swears by his Bonts, took him 3 or 4 times to get them molded just right, but he loves them.

I'm a bit miffed actually as I went for Specialized Experts at £160 when I now think I should've spent a bit more on the Bonts as I'm finding them a bit uncomfortable after a couple of hours.

Re: Specialized BG Insoles

I have the reds in but tried the blues following a bike fit and them getting me to stand on the heat activated pad to show my footprint. After a couple of rides I was getting cramp whilst riding and tightness in the arch after riding in my right foot with the blues so switched back to the reds and i...

Re: Carbon fiber and torque wrenches

Is it possible that part of the reason for the torque settings is so they can charge more for the product by making it appear more hi-tech than it is? Yes, it is perfectly possible. Is it also possible they're doing it because they've done some analysis of the potential use of the product, looked a...

Re: Carbon fiber and torque wrenches

If I recall the video showed a carbon frame being squashed in a vice and when it was released it just popped back to it's original shape. That would merely be the matrix (resin) material suffering plastic deformation from which it can return to its previous form. It's more than likely that the actu...

Re: Semi-deep wheels suitable for general sportive-type even

What about going handbuilt or see what your LBS can do?

My LBS had a lovely set of H Plus Son Archetypes on DT350 hubs with Sapim CX spokes for £385. In matt black and the slightly aero profile they looked awesome and were a nice light wheelset.

Re: budget stem, preferably white

Glad I stumbled across this thread as I'm wanting to change my stem for a shorter one, was looking at these and a few others so will decide what length I want and take the plunge on the Deda I think.
