Re: LEAVE the Conservative Party and save your country!

No change to the constitution just that nobody had taken it to court before I guess. Surely the right to a court process was always there for such cases just very exercised in the past. When before have courts decreed on the importance of Parliamentary business? It was always open to people but it ...

Re: LEAVE the Conservative Party and save your country!

A rather circular argument with hindsight but the SC verdict was that proroguing parliament like BJ did was unlawful. As a member if the general public Miller and the Scottish politicians are entitled to present a legal argument to a court. The government is entitled to question legal rights if cour...

Re: Rugby World Cup 2019

Go back far enough there would be no white man names on the islands of Aotearoa neither. How many people in top flight sport from the nations if the British isles play for the land of a grandparent instead of their parents/ nation if birth? Does it really matter when you still get good games if inte...

Re: BREXIT - Back to the Tartarian Crag

Anyone post a link to the supreme court judgement where it says bojo lied? Isn't it legally poor to infer something from a judgement rather than it being explicit? AIUI the judgement deliberately fell far short of stating boris lied to the queen. It hadn't seen evidence proving that so didn't say i...

Re: Things you have recently learnt

Worse than that is the parents if primary school kids in reception and yr1 proudly stating that they don't read to, read with or encourage their kids to read because they don't read well and most of their family can't read at all! I'm not kidding. It's kind of the same thing bit worse because they'r...

Re: Seemingly trivial things that annoy you

That one sheet using the finger probably started when army switched from izol to soft toilet paper. Sgt major stuck his finger through and realised he could save money for bullets by cutting back on paper. Afterall it was probably the times when they used to walk the shooting range to collect the br...

Re: Things you have recently learnt

Whatever your password is. I guess you need the lock screen when not in use option set for this.

We lock our computers at work because we get people coming into our office when nobody is there. You can't trust people who work here! Obviously I'm the exception!

Re: Things you have recently learnt

Oh I just get my phone and make to walk away. I've got a job i have to go to the shop floor from time to time. Locking the screen looks perfectly natural activity if followed with a getting up action.

I do use the minimise option but the lock works better for me.

Re: Seemingly trivial things that annoy you

That's something I heard on a TV show where mixed group of people crossed central america in an expedition. An ex British soldier said it but with the centre torn out first and then used for tie fingernail cleaning job. Funnily enough I doubt he had ever been in the army because he struck me as one ...

Windows button + L is lock your PC. It locks it quickly so is a very good safety net if you go on websites that are not safe for work and your boss approaches suddenly.

How do they figure toilet paper is strong enough? They need a new test!

It works for them double the usage.

Re: Refugees Channel crossing

Well I'm a 6 foot 5 inch guy with martial arts training, it's true, but I'd run just as fast as I can from soldiers with an ak74 meaning harm to anyone they meet. My ex army trainer in unarmed combat and other things who I know through the martial arts school he taught me at once said the art of sel...

Re: Child seat or trailer?

We've had both trailer and rear seat. Just be aware that a seat can have a big effect on handling on some bikes. I had a hybrid spesh crosstrail and the rear seat worked well. Got that nicked so got a planetx London road super commuter bike. Great bike and I've used it from MTB trails, road, commuti...

Re: Things you have recently learnt

Bottles not tamper proof? Used to have them. Also child safe which was more likely to cause adults problems opening them. Cough medicines come with tamper proof features. Boxes of tablets only have your foil and some have a circular tape on the openings. Can't be beyond us to work one out for reusab...

Re: Things you have recently learnt

All tablets have markings. They define the drug and amount in the tablet I believe. Some extra checking entailed but getting it wrong is still negligence. There's so many failure modes already that pharmacists already check prescriptions such that those extra checks might not amount to much extra co...

Re: Things you have recently learnt

Then again one of my local pharmacists supply one drug I get in plain boxes and they still have up count out blister packs to fill the prescription. Besides with those pourer/counters it's hardly onerous to count loose pills. Autocorrect keeps correcting pills as piles. You really don't want to cons...
