Re: Giving up cycling?

I think giving it up is a big drastic however it is important to take need breaks! or when a pressing matter is at hand or marriage needs help or kids need assistance always obviously family before cycling. But giving up completely, unless I get severely injured I would never!

Re: Roof rack, forwards or backwards?

I have wondered the same on facing forward or backwards, I have seen both,. the only advantage for my set up is with my mtb it would be easier to load if I ran it backwards, however after reading this feed I will keep it facing forwards. cheers

Re: Music source while you ride?

I would hit up your local thrift stores or pawn shops to find old iPods, I too listen to music when I ride, not always but sometimes and definitely use ear buds where you can wear one in and one out!

Re: Best MTB under £400

I also agree, what you will get for 400 new will be pretty trash as far as being able to with stand the beating you will soon put on it. go second hand for sure, the key is to check it constantly everyday, whatever site, app or eBay you use check it frequently, good deals are out there but they go f...

Re: Skill progression

I also agree, I have been riding for just over a year now and had the basics down to what I thought they needed to be but after taking a course I feel way more confident in myself and it also helped me to understand techniques I never considered before.

Re: Trek X-Caliber 9 - New Rider

Hello I started on a trek X caliber as well it was acutely a WSD (women's) although you couldn't tell the difference. It was a hard tail and it suited me just fine! I actually won my first XC race on it! and no one ever knew I was riding a girls bike. the biggest decision you are gonna make is the d...

Re: Frame size... Go larger or smaller?

Agreed I would go small every day of the week. you can adjust saddle, stem, etc. I have had many to small and too big bikes and the worse of the two was by far the ones that were too large.

Agreed, I think the best recipe for success is light on the bars and on the helmet, that way you have both bases covered

Re: Mountain Biking Diets.

Most my friends take a shot of espresso or chug coffee before a ride, however I only feel terrible when I do that. I prefer to just drink water pre ride and have a light meal on my stomach, granola bar, banana, and maybe some beef jerky.

Re: Lower back pain when riding

One thing I have noticed that helps with lower back pain is when I get home, I spend about 5 to 10 min rolling out my back, with a foam roller. Every since I started that I haven't noticed back pain during or after rides! best of luck mate!
