Re: Thread To Tell Everyone What Fettling You've Just Done

Removed cassette on dying aksium, cleaned it to a reasonable standard, and put it on the brand new zonda. Brand new GP4S to replace Pro4 Endurance v2 with roughly 3200 & 4600 km.

Re: BREXIT - Complete Meltdown

Isn't refining stuff rather important to our gdp? Not a good idea to do all this protective stuff over. That is why we would do it. Rates and contribution to the economy here: if we impose 4.7% then it's a level playing field. If so, they could cut petrol excise duty to keep a lid on the price in t...

Surely net zero is feasible if we nuke the entire economy? Maybe not the best way to do it, though...

Re: Your rants here.

Back on the gaming - I have a Switch also got one pretty much at launch because the Legend of Zelda series of games are my all time faves. Still haven't bloody finished Breath of the Wild. I wanted to take my time and explore the whole game, but now i've run out of time! Zelda's been 100 years in H...

Re: Your rants here.

Back on a cycling rant... It seems my rear aksium is finally giving up the ghost. It has a few corroded nipples and, until recently, two loose spokes I couldn't seemingly tighten. On the ride to work this moring, the sound was not encouraging. Can now confirm 4 out of 20 spokes are loose, and I coul...

A switch is Nintendo's latest console, which can be played as a portble device, or hooked up to the telly. Really evil.

Not that i have much time anymore to play the bloody thing. Try playing it with the squidling ... at 2am ... And little elbowloh will end up thinking think Coopster's posts in the Brexit thread are those of a left-wing, SJW snowflake... My gaming high is now provided by a Switch that both kids love...

Re: BREXIT - Complete Meltdown

Boris will spin TM's WA, with modified backstop, as having gained massive concessions. Like the massive concessions Cameron got before brexit. Well, he got a "get out of further integration, free" card. Which coupled with existing potential mechanisms to stop benefit claims from recent mi...

Re: Your rants here.

Yesterday evening; too tired to keep working from home, do homework w/ 7 y.o., home chores, and then be arsed to cook Ratatouille. Let's just hope I'll have the strength later today.

In other news: my Edge 25 and my Nokia have split up. Can't even see each other.

Re: Seized nipples on Aksium?

Thanks for the answer, Malcolm. I can see how getting 10 spokes (at least three are seized) plus labour makes it not cost-effective. Op your only annoyed because you got the answer you did not expect. It however is still the answer. Guilty as charged. I must admit my expectations with the wheels wer...

Re: Seized nipples on Aksium?

Thanks for all answers! First, by "alu" I really meant aluminium alloy, yes. I've tried turning the nipples that are loose (3 out of 20 on the rear wheel) with the spoke key on my multitool. Spoke and nipple turn together, and several counterclockwise turns (looking from hub to rim), didn'...

Seized nipples on Aksium?

Some alu nipples on my rear Aksium have seized, and some spokes have begun loosening. It's clear by now the wheel is out of true, and it's only a matter of time it becomes unusable. I'm very pissed with Mavic and my LBS who suggested these in the first place, but throwing away a wheel with barely 50...

Re: Commuter wheels (700c)?

OK, I've gone Zondas, based on brass nipples, also selflocking according to Campag marketing. I'm a bit concerned about cup_and_cone on the long term, but we'll see. Got them on cycle to work. Fingers crossed!

Our eldest slept like crap. Or we thought he did. Even at 3, he was waking up every three hours, the little b**tard. Only started sleeping well when his brother, Tiny Haggis was born. I'd say Tiny Haggis (now 4) sleeps better overall, but tends to sense when mommy & daddy are playing jumping cro...

Re: BREXIT - End Game?

If writing a mitigation plan was easy, we would have taken it to the EU by now, shown them that no deal wouldn't hurt us, and they would have caved in. That this hasn't happened, suggests someone is living in an alternative reality. When the top level of govt who don't want to leave you get what we...

Re: Your rants here.

That is pretty farking terrible. To add to that, Edinburgh Council is pretty poor at road maintenance, and the fixes are useless patches. Sometimes a road is fully resurfaced, like Inverleith Terrace, which puts the rest of the roads in perspective. Sometimes, however, the council just throws the to...
