Re: Garmin 530 £50 cashback deal

Ha! Didn't have money back then... LOL    I got mine for £232. Cashed in the £50 for petrol, and sold my 520 for £100. £82 balance. Not bad! 8) So....not only did I pay full retail at £259.99, but also missed out on everything else. I'm usually quite a savvy shopper, but in my haste ...

Re: Campagnolo Wheels with Shimano Groupset – Legit or Fashion Faux Pas?

I'm just bemused that people (adults, I assume) still feel the need to ask "permission" to use certain equipment / clothing combinations. Its your bike, you paid for it, you can put whatever you want on it. Anyone that has a genuine problem with it isn't worth wasting your time over. There...

Bought mine from Sigma (plus free case) and got my 50 quid without hassle.

The 530 really is bloody good wee unit. The processor is a rocket!

Ahhh no! Damnit anyway, tough lesson learnt here for me.
However the 530 really is great - which eases the pain somewhat!

Re: Strava stopping direct Ant+ connection. Any alternative

What phone are you using oxoman? If its an iPhone, i've used Cyclemeter and the Wahoo fitness app and both are very good. Wahoo fitness is free, whereas cyclemeter was paid for. There are android versions available of both apps as well, but I haven't personally used them so can't vouch for them, but...

Re: Garmin 530 £50 cashback deal

I bought mine from Wiggle, after checking it was on the list as the web advertising directed me to the main Garmin online shop first. £50 happily spent on half a case of wine. Is it too late to return it to Trendz? Could probably return Paul, but the promotion period for the cash back is now over. ...

Garmin 530 £50 cashback deal

Morning everyone, Just wondering if anyone else got stung by this - I'm so annoyed. Bought the Garmin 530 due to the offer that was running to claim a £50 prepaid credit card 30 days after purchase. I became aware of the offer via email and through a bombardment of web adverts. After doing a bit of ...

Re: Boardman Team Comp - winter project

Looking awesome so far. I would be inclined to have the same paint finish on the forks - see this Trek https://cyclingtips.com/2018/07/2019-trek-madone-slr-project-one-icon/ Everything else black. Thanks for that Carl. If the aurora tape doesn’t work, what I assume is Bontrager tape on those Treks ...

Re: Boardman Team Comp - winter project

Also you have to weight up what's more important. Annoyingly the clubbies or annoying MF.    I appreciate all the opinions - sure if we all wanted the same thing then it would be a boring place! If anything the comments and suggestions are keeping me in check, as I feel I have ...

Re: Boardman Team Comp - winter project

I got excited....just ordered the aurora bar tape from Tredz
Worst case, it can come off again - definitely worth trying I reckon to finish the job properly now i've came this far.
Thanks for pointing it out Step!

Re: Boardman Team Comp - winter project

Ahhhhh step.......that does look the business.
Hope it wouldn't be too much along with the frame, its hard to know.
It could be the finishing touch which really just sets everything off!

Re: Boardman Team Comp - winter project

Thanks everyone for the kind words....i'll update next week once I get the forks painted and get a photo up of the forks and frame together. Now need to go and sort out headset bearings and settle on the handlebar tape. Anyone recommend anything that feels nice and soft - i've used lizard skins befo...

Re: Boardman Team Comp - winter project

Yeah seeing it with the decals and clear, same colours. Black finishing kit? Definitely black finishing kit - let the frame be the centre of attention colour wise! I was tempted by the Supacaz bling oil slick bar tape, but its blue/purple anyway which doesn't match the green/purple frame. Might do ...

Re: Boardman Team Comp - winter project

Morning everyone, Decals arrived yesterday and I just couldnt wait to get them on there - I think they look great, really compliment the paintwork without being too shouty. I'm over the moon with them as it was a gamble choosing the oil slick vinyl without ever really seeing it first. I put a few la...

Re: Boardman Team Comp - winter project

That looks really good! Fork wise I'd black prime it then offer it up and see what you think. Cheers Step, yes I think that sounds like the best course of action. Will get the fork sanded and primed over the next day or two, time allowing. Seeing the primed fork actually next to the frame will hope...

Re: Boardman Team Comp - winter project

Bit of an update....frame has been given 3 coats of high build black etch primer and lightly wet sanded. Left it for a few days and have just finished 2 coats of the colour flip spray, which I think is looking really great (well for my limited skill set at least). Needs a wet sand now and then waiti...

Re: Boardman Team Comp - winter project

nah - deep rims will compact the look and bring out the bling frame. shallow rims will just look like something from the 1980s a clubbie audax rider would use. its all about minimising the space around it to bring out the bling. look at my S3 and them compare to a normal one with shallows. Shallows...

Re: Boardman Team Comp - winter project

Something like a set of Fulcrum Quattros would finish it off nicely when the time comes....although i'll have to see how funds are. The original CXP22s are a very dead feeling wheel, so definitely would like to do something wheel wise to finish the build and give the ride a bit of zip.

Re: Boardman Team Comp - winter project

thats gonna rock - top work that man. keep us updated deffo. 100% agree re tube shapes. big phat deep rims I presume? if leaving forks black, I'd go black decals, seat post, stem, etc to tie it all in. what groupset? #somuchpotential Cheers - really hoping to do it justice. Yes, if doing the fork p...

Re: Boardman Team Comp - winter project

The shape of those tubes. So so lovely. Even the metal ones look like they're made of carbon once painted. Can't work out whether white or black decals, but don't be afraid to make them stand out as it could look a bit weird if very 'paint heavy'. I think the forks would look ace just left black, t...
