Re: Handbuilt wheels... the big thread

A cheap Bitex hub is the same weight as a dt swiss 240. 240 hubs are not great. Ugo right dont bother with them. If you really want light and colourful then carbon ti hubs are your friend but they will empty your wallet. So will tune hubs carbon ti hubs are lighter and easier to.maintain. Still the ...

Re: MACIV UST Yksion tyre bubbling

What is this bubbling. If it sealant bubbling the tyre is safe to ride. What probably happening is there is some porosity in the tyre that your sealant is not sealing. A different sealant like orange seal standard or effetto Mariota should drop enough latex over the tyre to seal it properly. Frankly...

Re: BREXIT - Like Sons of Anarchy. It goes on and on and on.

Is it correct that because NI is tied into the EU VAT regime, NI is going to end up with a different VAT rate to the rest of the U.K. VAT is 23% in th republic. Will NI need to harmonise there rate with the republic? Not sure. I think, but am really not sure, that they need to be at least as high a...

Re: BREXIT - Like Sons of Anarchy. It goes on and on and on.

brexit has to be done. The deal on offer is better than no deal. Then the debate moves on to wehere it should be what next. Free trade agreement. EEA/customs union or jump back into the EU. We also get to sort out the political system that drove the resenment that lead to the brexit. We are not a na...

Re: Stainless steel frame

Oh if you go for polished you have to put polished silver potenza on it. There are people who will mirror polish that groupset for you. Witha mirror polished frame that would be lush. As for panel colour white is not good as then you will need white bar tape and saddle. White bar tape is for clean r...

Up to you. White pan else though I would go for a strong contrasting course. White against lusterious metal jind of blends in. You might as well have no panels at all.

Re: BREXIT - Like Sons of Anarchy. It goes on and on and on.

I'm impressed BoJo has done the seemingly impossible. He's come back with May's deal plus making the backstop unnecessary by putting NI in their own customs area (seemingly) permanently. Yes however with all his bluster it looked like no deal. Bojo has shown however he can compromise, perhaps not i...

Re: BREXIT - Like Sons of Anarchy. It goes on and on and on.

Take that view and shove it where the sun dont shine. Its simply nasty Alejan. However my question if the deal passes (I kind of hope it does) but i have stopped hoping, what incentive is there for a GE? The incentive kind of evaporates for the opposition and the tories. If new WA passes will suppor...

I'm impressed BoJo has done the seemingly impossible. Sad though it looks to be on a knife edge whether it will pass or not. I'm off on holiday on Saturday. Wahoo. While I am opposed to referndum I do have to concede it may be the only way out as the opposition MP's just cant seem to decide what the...

I did the flatlands with a Catye Volt 1700 (thats 15hrs of light on low setting) and a Leyzne microdrive 180's. I did sleep though so did not ride through the whole night. You dont have to be that fast to get back on the second day before the sun goes down. averaging 15 mph on the fens is not that h...

Re: Handbuilt wheels... the big thread

I have no idea if the this hub is too loud or not. Given you font know what's wrong if anything you have to some one else look at it. You need to compare with someone else who has a Royce hub.i can hear my Royce hub when freewheeling and the extra grease does not keep it quiet for long. That's why I...

Re: Handbuilt wheels... the big thread

The one noisey royce hub that came to me had signs of pawl wear and ratchet ring wear. Cliff did not believe so I asked to make a tool to remove the ratchet ring and send me a new ring and pawls. I was right the hub was quiet after that. It could just be wrong pawls. If grease is escaping then you p...

Re: Handbuilt wheels... the big thread

Im confused ugo. your method does not tell you the range of acceptable tension just the average tension on the wheel.
for 1200N DS I use a rnage of 1150N to 1250N tighter if I can get it. You cant get that with a park guage it simply not senstive enough.
