+1 - I've never had a waterproof (insert name of item here) that's kept water out over an extended period.

Warm is the key.

Re: Wheel Replacement - rights?

Thanks for all the helpful replies, I have an update in that after discussion Evans have decided to give her a new set of Mavic wheels so she is very happy. Kudos to Evans for some great customer service.

Re: Wheel Replacement - rights?

[*] Not sure whether the law requires an identical replacement (as opposed to a 'suitable' replacement) or not - if not, ask Evans for a deal on the front wheel as well Won't do any harm to have spares.. Thanks for your reply, I think that's a good idea - I'll suggest that to her. Edit - thanks as w...

Wheel Replacement - rights?

Advice wanted please A friend of mine bought a bike from Evans in October last year on the cycle to work scheme, recently the back wheel (not sure of the make) developed a fault with the freehub. Evans have tried to repair it but have decided they cannot and have offered her a replacement wheel (a M...

Re: Keeping old bike going - 9spd Deore bits...

I'd stick with HT if you can as opposed to square taper. I replaced my middle ring last year and could still find what I needed. They are getting harder to find though. Stealing from a cheaper tripe set as thistle mentioned is an idea. Saw this on eBay: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Genuine-Shimano-De...

Re: Cheap Fixie Frame

I've been after a ss/fixed for a while, nothing decent on ebay apart from a ludicrously overpriced Kona. Buying a frame, wheels and running gear soon mounts up so started looking at cheap complete bikes including the Mango but settled on a Pinnacle Monzonite from Evans. For £350 I wasn't expecting a...

Re: Mobile phone holder?

If you have to do it I'd suggest a quadlock mount, not cheap but good. If you want to do anything useful with a phone (like navigate) then be prepared for fast battery drain.

Well there you go, sense on a forum. :D Yes, I feel vindicated in my opinion now and relieved for the OP that he didn't send the wheels back only to be told there was nothing untoward with them. Not quite. Magnifying the picture it seems very clear it is more than just a bad weld, there is clearly ...

For that budget I'd go for something interesting like a Space Chicken, maybe with 650b wheels?

Re: Campag Zonda issues

I have no experience of these wheels but would presume that the tape is there to protect the tube at the join, the bit of tape in the picture is folded over so not doing it's job and maybe this has caused the problem? Try replacing it with something fairly robust. Unless there's something obviously...

Re: Campag Zonda issues

Do these wheels not need rim tape then?

Guess not as no spoke holes. Whats that bit of clear tape doing?

Only used them once but will again. Competitive prices delivery was good, I needed to send something back and was delighted to find that returns were free and easy (collect +) and the refund was quick.

Is the principle that those who can afford to pay more tax do indeed pay more tax dead ? On a related point it staggers me how many people think they are over taxed in the UK - a did a google on tax burdens for the average earner and the uk came below half way. It seems a dying school of thought, b...

For the SS I'm thinking of buying (which has drops but straight bar brakes fitted)

Re: NHS and Amazon

Who thought doctors would have been amongst the first victims of AI? Well I would for one although this probably isn't the mechanism. AI consistently outperforms medical professionals in diagnosing health issues in trials, won't be long before it's rolled out hopefully. Remote health monitoring and...
