nope not stored upside down and I can't think of any reason why it would have been turned upside down...

Sounds like the damper might have leaked.

Yeah that's my guess too - looks like there's been some leakage (oil drops on the floor)

What do I have to do to get this sorted?
Is this gonna be expensive..?

Fork seems to have seized up

I have a Malt 4 with Rockshox Reba Team fork I've not ridden for the past couple of weeks and when I got my bike out to ride, the fork seems to have seized up :( It moves about 1-2 cm and then seems to stop suddenly (as if the pop loc is still on) and makes a bit of a clang noise and then slowly reb...

Swinley (The Look Out) is probably the best/closest Surrey Hills (near Guildford/Dorking) I think is the best in the South East - I'm biased as its on my doorstep though ;) Both of which can be a little difficult to navigate without someone showing you the ropes but I'm sure you'll find friendly peo...

I've heard very good thing about superstars (although haven't used them myself yet) and their 45 days no questions asked money back guarantee seems a great way to try them out without being scared of losing money...

Thanks for the advise everyone - I've not got compressed air anyway so sound like I've avoided potential pain ;)

I think I'll give the hairspray trick a go and if all else fails get at it with my knife :)

Fitting New Grips

My current grips are beginning to get a bit twisty and moving around on the bars so am planning on getting some lock-on grips. However, trying to remove/move the current grips is proving to be a royal pain in the a$$ and I assume that fitting the new ones won't be any easier... Is there some sort of...

I'm actually planning a ride in the Surrey Hills on Sunday, got a friend's 30th Birthday tonight so timing depends on my hangover ;) I live in Guildford so I tend to ride from Peaslake - the Walking Bottom Lane car park... Do you have a car? Gomshall station is only a couple of miles away if not. I ...

well of course you *can* buy a full suss for less than a grand but it'll tend to have relatively cheap chainset & shocks and be relatively heavy... A thousand pound HT will be XT/XTR throughout, be light and be right at the top of the end for a HT, you'd have to spend closer to 2k to get near to...

I've heard that it is very good - I've not had a chance to try it out yet because I'm still on the original iPhone w/o GPS...

It also sync up with Trail Runner (if you use a Mac)

I absolutely love my Malt 4 '08 light, strong, fast and nimble - have absolutely no problems with it :) But I agree this is a pretty serious bike and possibly slightly over-kill for mainly flat stuff, mine always wants to go faster than my brain likes to ;) But if you've got the cash and HM Gov. wil...

Good call - thanks a lot guys :)

One thing, clear, smoked or amber lenses..? I've only used the amber ones before and had no issues, are the smoked ones likely to be too dark in the woods with the rain beating down..?

Cheap sunglasses

I lost my sunglasses on Monday and am in need of some new ones before next weekend... My old ones were a fiver from ebay but I can't find any similar now (I got them two years ago) :( I've had a look at the Polaris Godfather http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=18979 but was a bit ...

New shorts

I've only been out for a few rides this year :( but have been out a few times in the past week and realised my shorts (humvee) are rather tatty... Any recommendations on some new padded shorts? I ride XC and a bit of AM on a Malt 4 hardtail. I quite like the look of the Race Face VO3 but wasn't sure...

I ride at around 30-35 and have few problems with punctures/pinch flats at that pressure

I found much higher than that and I lost traction and had a much less comfortable ride...

they're enduro ones (IIRC) that I got from the LBS when the old ones went back to the metal :( I've already degreased the rotor and re-set-up the brakes which made little to no difference... I wonder whether these pads do just take *ages* to bed in..? I am quite tempted to just splash out on a fancy...
