Re: Avid Elixir - new hoses

TBH it does depend a bit on what the white hoses are. Original or aftermarket and if so who's.

the Avid ones have a few parts that are reusable but again it depends if they were original or shortened.

download the manual from srams pages about shortening the hoses and you will see.

Re: Straight change to hybrid wheel?

Tried it... Not gona work haha everything matches up (gearing, size etc) but on the back wheel on the gear side the spindle from the centre hub doesn't want to sit in the frame Grove Front wheel fits fine 2 possible issues there, first that the OLD on the hybrid wheel is wider, second that it has a...

Re: Velo Orange Grand Cru Threadless Bottom Bracket

Will not work with your frame. They are for use in a standard threaded frame with damaged threads. Oh well looks like another dead end then Thanks anyway, I realised thats what they were for , but the sjs one actually says for threadless as well, though I don't know the id to check the total expans...

Re: Fitting Alfine chain tips/length

Thanks Nick. The original chain was Shimano CN-HG50. I think this is a 6/7/8 speed chain but I couldn't find this exactly one available so got SRAM PC850 8 Speed Chain as it's the same speed as the CN-HG50 but comes with a quick link which I assumed would be easier to fit.... ok in that case you wi...

Re: Fitting Alfine chain tips/length

shop has no idea. you need to know the chain width. look at it for info. cog width for derailleur geared bikes is not the same as for hub geared bikes. ( single speed and hub geared bike tend to have chains that are 1/8 wide. some reading http://www.sheldonbrown.com/nexus-mech.html#sprockets I would...

Re: Fitting Alfine chain tips/length

why did you get a chain for a bike with derailleur gears?

you would be better with a single speed chain. (also a geared chain may not fit if the cogs are single speed ones).

It is all in the manual. Read it. If you don't have it download it from SRAMs website.

A damp cloth will do for wiping down.

Re: Any Idea What These Bolts Are

Looks like it has horizontally adjustable drop outs.

Will have the same on the other side.

If you don't want to be resetting the wheel in the right place only remove one bolt at a time.

Re: Chain tension, rear derailleur position

your comment Short cage RD should be able to deal with the 28 rear cog: shows you are missing the point about capacity. if the difference between the big and small cog son the cassette and the chainset is greater than the capacity of the rear mech you will have, either, gears you can not shift into ...

Re: SRAM X9 - What's broke now (pics attached) ?

From memory, I found some guide online, which went on about letting all your air out the rear shock, and when everything is compressed, wrap round largest chainring, and largest sprocket, ! this is only if you have chain grow with suspension compression. if Like some designs the chainstay length ca...

Re: Bleeding brake problem

You have failed at bleeding the brakes.

Re do it.

Why talk about adding fluid? You do that when you bleed the brakes.

If you have undone the bleed nipple after bleeding you will need to rebleed.

Re: Change in Crankset

It all depends on if you are keeping the BB of not. As you will need a crankset that matches the axel length and taper.
